haley - high school senior session

The very lovely Haley came out to my farm for an on location high school senior session in late May & we had a blast!  Haley actually graduated right around that time from a program at the local community college for high school students, so she was a class of 2015 graduate.  This summer,  I've been working with rising class of 2016 seniors, so its never to early to schedule YOUR session {or in Haley's case, too late}!

We started off at my place and then drove to a couple of locations nearby for different scenery including on the river.  Haley was adventurous enough to want to climb out on to some rocks in her dress!   She also plays the ukulele, so she brought that along to be included in a few of her portraits.  I also offered a few closeups in the studio the day she came out.  I wanted to give her variety, by allowing her to change into several outfits & to going to a couple of different locations.

Last fall,  I actually met Haley for the first time as she was maid of honor in her oldest sister Casey's wedding, which I photographed too! Its been such a pleasure getting to know her entire family in the past year or so. Her mother, Rebecca, is awesome too & I learned that she works in clay and has a pottery studio. They are such a creative family and a joy to be around. Rebecca joined us the morning of Haley's session & she was not only fun, she was so helpful to have along to help out!

Please let me know if you'd like to set-up your senior session on my farm or surrounding areas in the NC Piedmont Triad by contacting me via my website here. They can be scheduled this summer & into the fall. Again, there is no time limit unless you need one for a yearbook, graduation invitation and/or an announcement.  A parent(s) is more than welcome - and preferred - to come along during their session. Hope to see you soon!

stained glass canoe: band promo

friends, chris and andrea templon, have a great band called stained glass canoe, and i was honored when they asked me to do their promo photos. chris plays guitar and andrea sings some amazing vocals. she can really sing the blues AND she also plays the tambourine.  roger kohrs, who was once in the band unknown hinson, is their bass player {and sometimes plays the harmonica}. bruce mallatratt, is their drummer extraordinaire.

it was so enjoyable to drive out to chris and andrea's place in the country a few weeks ago on an unusually warm fall afternoon. i find working with musicians to be one of my favorites as a photographer. its really not "work" at all, so please don't tell anyone!

stained glass canoe has an 8 song album out, so be sure to contact them to see how you can get a copy. we went out to see them play live last weekend and what fun it was!  roger came up to me when we first arrived and said "i really love the photos, they are really colorful!" and colorful they were, as in the band members! in a few of the shots roger wore a vintage lime green leisure suit jacket, while the others went all out with brightly colored tie-dye outfits.  what a fun photo gig, without a doubt!

jamestown, north carolina wedding: alison+jeremy 05.22.11

july? really? where does the time go?  so far it's been a fantastic season of weddings, engagement sessions, and more!  may and june went by in a blink of an eye with several road trips to virginia, maryland, DC, and of course all around north carolina! its been a busy, but super fun two months.

alison and jeremy's was the third out of four weddings in may which we covered. they tied the knot on the 22nd in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at castle mcculloch in the crystal gardens. i've really enjoyed getting to know these two as a couple in the past year. from photographing their band serendipity jazz for promo, to seeing them at music festivals + gigs throughout the area, and of course their engagement session earlier this spring.  we were so thrilled to have been part of their big day!

alison pretty much wins the all time most-talented DIY bride ever!  she purchased all of her flowers from the farmer's market and made the bouquets, boutineers, and arrangements at the reception, designed and made her own jewelry, made fabric flowers to accent her dress and hair as well as for some of the other gals in the wedding party, designed the guest book, invitations & programs {which doubled as paper fans and on the backs of each, a game of "mad libs" for the guests to participate in playing}.

in addition alison supplied the recipe to the caterers for the cupcakes,  designed and made the cake topper, AND sang at her own wedding reception!  jeremy also  joined in by playing a few songs together, along with their band serendipity. alison has an amazing voice, and i think their friends and family would agree with me here... I just LOVED it when she sang to her groom.... love is sweet!

such a super couple! xo
