after photographing april and dave's engagement session earlier this summer, i knew their wedding was going to be magical! april did much of the planning herself, as well as all of the decor at her reception and many of the details. she was going for a modern look with bright vibrant colors, yet classical. tiffany blue and buttercup yellow made up their wedding color palette. i love how these cheerful colors really complimented one another.
april and dave's late afternoon ceremony was held on the patio at the yorktown freight shed, a fully restored 1930's brick structure overlooking the waterfront of the york river. her two brothers walked her down the aisle and gave her away and i loved how her father officiated the ceremony. the reception was held in the same location making it very convenient for the guests. although the weather was mild, it was very windy that day so we were unable to walk down on the beach for the wedding party photos. however, the boardwalk and gardens surrounding the freight shed made for an equally fabulous area.
april is a textiles designer and is one of the most creative brides i've ever had the pleasure of working with. it was really fun to photograph everything she created! april also designs paper goods including wedding invitations, so please be sure to visit her etsy site, {paper} dolls designs. april and dave were both wonderful and i enjoyed their wedding day very much. in addition, it was fun to see my cousin, duncan, and his wife, jenn, at the wedding {thanks for the referral!}.
april and dave just returned from their honeymoon in st. thomas, usvi which they decided to take a couple months after their wedding. they chose a great time of year to go to the caribbean, as it has turned cold here in the south east! i'm welcoming the newlyweds home by finally posting their wedding to my blog!
