Sarah, James, & I had originally planned for their engagement session the weekend hurricane Joaquin decided to make its way to land. Needless to say, with the storm came several inches of rain along with high winds. So we made plans to reschedule a few weeks later & I am so glad we did, as fall color was at peak in the mountains by then.
We agreed to meet at the northern entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia, a couple of hours before sunset. We allowed enough time to stop at a few locations along the parkway, ending at an overlook with gorgeous views looking westward as the sun set. We agreed that the last stop was the best for scenery - we probably would've kept going had there been enough light. We were having too much fun!

It was such a pleasure getting to know Sarah & James a little better the day of their session. Although James has been to the parkway before, it was Sarah's first visit. She recently relocated to Richmond from the west coast so this was new to her. I'm so glad they trusted me when I suggested the parkway as an idea for their session!
I'm certainly looking forward to seeing Sarah & James again at their upcoming March 2016 wedding at King Family Vineyards. It won't be long!
