time sure does fly by and this summer certainly has done just that. it feels like just yesterday, when lisa and i headed back up to the charlottesville area to photograph karen and scott's gorgeous wedding at king family vineyards. the day is still fresh in my mind and what a wonderful day it was! the weather couldn't of been better, considering the ceremony was held outdoors with the view of the mountains and horse pastures as a backdrop. i always love photographing weddings at this winery as you just can't go wrong with the scenery. they also have this great space in the carriage house for receptions, which is beautifully appointed.
karen and scott were a lot of fun to work with as were their many friends, who were in the wedding party {nineteen total!} i met scott last summer when he was down in my area of north carolina, visiting a friend in greensboro. i didn't get the opportunity to meet karen until the day of their wedding and what a great gal she is! one of my personal favorite photos of her is in the barrel room sipping on a glass of wine, as seen below. its interesting how i have never utilized this very room before for portraits, however i have photographed a small intimate wedding there years ago. who knew the lighting would be so dramatic! you do have to work around the many wine tours they have throughout the day, but worth the wait.
i really enjoy working with the many talented wedding professionals charlottesville has to offer and such wonderful couples, i might add. i am so very grateful i still get to photograph so many lovely weddings in my hometown and the surrounding areas. after being away for six years, i miss it quite a bit, but love that i get to come back often. thanks karen and scott for giving me another opportunity and congratulations!
