earlier this winter, i was commissioned to be a second photographer for taisie berkeley photography at a wedding, held in charlotte. when she asked me if i'd like to join her for another wedding in june, i was happy to have the date opened and delighted to have another opportunity to work alongside taisie again.
so when the time finally came for ashley & gray's wedding, i headed north and made a long weekend of it. i was able to visit friends and family on my way up and back, which was a real treat! it was also fun spending some time with taisie at her place in georgetown, my favorite area of the nation's capitol, and where my father once lived.
the day of the wedding, taisie and i headed to baltimore and we first arrived at ashley's childhood home. there we documented the women preparing and then family photographs in the garden, before heading on to the church. ashley and gray were married in a late afternoon ceremony, which was in a beautiful historic church in downtown baltimore.

the evening reception took place on gibson island at the gibson island club, about thirty minutes from downtown baltimore. the newlyweds, along with their guests took trollies to the island and it was fun to get the arrival shots. cocktails were served out on the patio, with a view of the gorgeous chesapeake bay, while taisie and i finished up some of the wedding party photos. naturally, we utilized the scenic bay as a backdrop. and i loved how the couple "played" a game of lacrosse for a few photo ops. both were on the team at yale, where they met.
dinner was served, the cake was cut, and dancing followed to an amazing band, the new monopoly, which went well into the night. the couple departed in a sea of sparklers with a vintage getaway car waiting for them at the end of the line of guests wishing them well. it was a fabulous party, indeed!
