taisie of taisie berkeley photography {based in washington, dc} had contacted me last fall asking if i could recommend an associate photographer to come help her cover a large wedding in charlotte in january. i had the date available and i jumped at the chance to help her out.
wintertime weddings often have a magical feel to them and lauren and ivon's was no exception. they were married at the gorgeous myers park united methodist church in charlotte. a week prior a small "snowstorm" hit the area {large by the south's standards} leaving about 6" on the ground. thankfully by the time their wedding weekend rolled around much of the snow had melted and most of their guests were still able to attend.
after the early evening ceremony, the reception was held close by at the charlotte country club which was beautifully decorated with twinkling white lights, warm candlelight, gorgeous floral arrangements, and a roaring fire in the fireplace on a cold winter's night. the cuisine was amazing, the wedding cake a work of art, and an awesome party band, rhythm nation, rounded out the evening.
taisie was fabulous to work with, as were lauren, ivon, their families, and guests. i later found out that lauren's mother had taught at the greensboro day school at the same time my stepmother had and they'd known one another. it really is a small world! i felt so grateful to have been a part of lauren and ivon's big day, covering such a festive occasion. simply put, i love weddings!
taisie and i agreed to work as a team again in the future. when she asked me to help her this summer with two more weddings, i luckily had one of her two dates available and gladly accepted. so this coming june, i will be heading up north to gibson island, maryland {near annapolis} to once again join taisie at another wonderful wedding!
i'm really excited to be second shooting at several weddings this coming season with some amazing photographers. though i've been covering weddings on my own for 17 years now, i love teaming up. you can really learn a lot from one another!
