reidsville wedding photographer: nicole+cody 09.10.11

what a fun wedding this was!  my better half, terry, joined me for the wedding day festivities as we both know the bride's mother and stepfather, tammy and dwayne {they are camping, paddling, and festival-going friends}. i was so honored when tammy and dwayne asked me to come photograph their daughter nicole's wedding this past september. many of our friends were at this wedding, including the members of the band. so much fun!  i was able to capture all of their memories with terry's help and really enjoy myself at the reception, while keeping my camera close-by just in case.

the location where they had the reception was fabulous!  it was held out in the countryside on the family's farm in bethany, north carolina. they have a beautiful reconstructed log cabin on the premises, a pond, and of course a rustic old barn, which was the perfect setting for the wedding party photos. although the weather was fabulous the day of nicole and cody's wedding, as a precaution they set up a large tent on the property where tables & chairs, a dance floor, and the band were. the caterers set up a 2-sided buffet line, which was inside one of the outbuildings, such a excellent idea. i loved how one of the canoes was utilized as a "cooler" to keep wine, beer, and sodas chilled! it was nice in that i got to sit down with terry and friends, listen to some great music, and enjoy some amazing food.  even danced a little! it's late coming, but congratulations to the happy couple, nicole "niki" and cody, and a happy new year to all!

reidsville wedding: mary taylor+drew 12.11.10

last saturday i had the pleasure of working alongside the super talented anna of anna paschal photography at a beautiful christmas wedding held in reidsville, north carolina. it's been several years since i've been commissioned as a second photographer at a wedding and it was truly an enjoyable experience! i not only found anna to be professional, she was great fun to work with and had so many creative ideas!  mary taylor and drew, the bride and groom were wonderful to work with as well.

the late afternoon ceremony was held at woodmont united methodist church, which was decorated with an enormous christmas tree, poinsettias, and candles & magnolias in each of the stained glass windows. it made for a very festive occasion!  i arrived at the church a couple hours prior to the ceremony, joining mary taylor and her eleven bridesmaids, three junior bridesmaids, and flower girl for some pre-ceremony photos, while anna ventured downtown with drew and the groomsmen {can't wait to see her pics!}.

the reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the pennrose park country club, a fabulous 1920's english tudor style structure. the venue was adorned with twinkling white lights, plenty of greenery, and a gorgeous christmas tree. i love weddings at christmastime!  the couple's friend, a pastry chef, made the gorgeous wedding cake and the wedding favors for the guests were chocolate-covered {iced with sprinkles!} krispy creme donuts, a north carolina original!

anna added a fun touch at the reception, setting up a photobooth complete with props she handmade herself.  guests enjoyed grabbing a prop such as a silly moustache or santa hat for some seriously hilarious photo ops. if you visit anna's facebook business page you can see a sample taken in the booth at this very same wedding.  what a clever idea! i'm toying with the idea of offering a photobooth in the new year at the weddings i'm commissioned for.  stay tuned for details!

keep checking back anna's blog to see her beautiful photographs from mary taylor and drew's wedding. thanks so much anna, you were a joy to work with!
