Sara + Ben's Wedding - Davis Chapel - Brookstown Inn

Sara & Ben's love story is one of my favorites. Both were living & teaching in France at the time they met and just days before Sara was to come back to the states to live & work in Chicago.  They both just knew! After months of keeping in touch, Ben made a trip back to the states to see Sara again, eventually moving back to the states himself.  The rest is history!  Fast forward to Christmas 2014, when the two of them took a trip together back to France, over the Christmas holiday to visit mutual friends, who were in on what was to come. After opening gifts that Christmas morning, a letter to Sara from Ben somehow appeared under the tree. As she finished reading it, he got down on one knee with a beautiful engagement ring & proposed. She said yes!

Sara & Ben now live in Winston-Salem and chose to have their wedding on Monday in their city, just after Christmas {a year and 3 days since their engagement!}. Since they had most of their family in town it made perfect sense. Their wedding was the last of 2015 for us and it was a wonderful way to close out the year. Although Mother Nature didn't cooperate, it didn't dampen anyone's spirits. The ceremony & reception locations both offered nice places for photos & it stopped raining just long enough to get a few of the couple outside in the soft winter afternoon light.

The style of their wedding I would describe as 1920's classic.  Sara's dress was gorgeous and she looked amazing in it.  Her beautiful headpiece was made by her friend, who was also a bridesmaid in her wedding. Sara's bridesmaids & the mothers all wore long dresses in jewel tones. I love how each bridesmaid wore a totally different dress, which they got to choose. Ben and his groomsmen wore grey suits with ties to match the women's dresses. The image of them showing off their ties is hilarious!

The reception was at The Historic Brookstown Inn, which offers that old-world feeling.  It has exposed brick walls and wood beams. Its such a warm, welcoming, and romantic place for a wedding celebration. The room was decorated with candles on the tables, a few Christmas accents, and eucalyptus greenery mixed in with the flowers and centerpieces. It smelled amazing! Sara and Ben set up a table with Christmas ornaments on it and metallic pens for their guests to sign. I loved this idea and the coffee beans in jars as favors. After dinner, the toasts, and first dances the floor opened up to the guests.  Closing out the evening was the cake cutting and the couple thanking their families and friends for joining them in their special day.

It was such a pleasure working with such a sweet couple! Sara and Ben spent their honeymoon in New Orleans, which has such a rich history in the French culture. Perfect for a couple who originally met in France and then became engaged there. After a wonderful trip, they're now back home with their fur baby, Zoey. I just had to get a photo of their pretty kitty at their home when the gals were getting ready {nothing phased her!}.

Enjoy the photos!
