It won't be long before Jessica & Brian will be celebrating their one-year anniversary. I remember their December 13th, 2014 wedding like it was yesterday. I originally met Jessica & Brian through Jenny a mutual friend, who is also one of my second photographers. Only this time Jenny was one of Jessica's bridesmaids & since she was in the wedding, my partner Terry joined me as my assistant photographer for the day.
Although I had been to Winmock on several occasions, once for a conference and then participating in two wedding shows, this was the first time I'd photographed a wedding there. The whole experience was fantastic! Winmock is a former dairy farm, the barn has been completely restored & now serves as a venue for events of all kinds. It has been beautifully done - from the bridal suite, a separate building for the groom, two levels in the main barn, a granary, and even an outdoor space for a ceremony, Winmock offers so many possibilities for a wedding there. Also worth noting, the staff really took great care of the couple, their guests, and the vendors making sure everyone had what they needed.
Jessica & Brian chose to do a first look before the ceremony which I think helped relieve their nerves plus we were able to do some of the photos before the ceremony, allowing them to enjoy some of their cocktail hour & of course reception. The ceremony was held in the loft on the second level & then it was turned around for the reception, while guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the Davie Room downstairs.
Jessica is a big Harry Potter fan, so they incorporated many of those elements into the theme of their wedding day celebration. From a bookcase set up with the entire series of Harry Potter books to Reverend Liz Grimes casting a spell on Jessica and Brian during the ceremony with a wand, it truly was a magical day. The ceremony was also extra special in that their friend Scott Moss, who is also in the band who played at their reception, sang and played the acoustic guitar for their processional & recessional.
Terry & I had a wonderful time at Jessica & Brian's wedding - from the amazing food including a s'mores bar to an awesome band, everyone had such a blast! Terry & I are fans of the band Big Daddy Love, who played at their reception. Jessica and Brian sure know how to throw a great party. Too much fun - I didn't want it to end! We absolutely adored working with Jessica & Brian and wish them many years of happiness & love.
