as promised its time to get these 2014 weddings posted! my motto is that its better late than never, however i hope to keep more updated in 2015!
lets start with andrea & leo's march wedding. my first of the year, it was the perfect wedding to kick off the season! they had a sweet intimate wedding of about 70 guests on a beautiful mild late winter afternoon at magnolia manor. although the couple didn't have a large wedding party, leo's daughter, kendall, & andrea's niece, maddox, served as the two precious flower girls. including leo's daughter in the ceremony made it extra special too!
the ceremony was held inside the ballroom & immediately following, hors d'oeuvres & cocktails were served to the guests in the front grand entryway, while the couple, a few friends, & family joined me for photos out on the patio and around the grounds. the soft light that day was quite lovely & made for some really nice portraits. to think just a few days later we had an ice storm - phew, glad it held out until then!
after photos, andrea changed into a different wedding gown for the reception. with guests seated in the ballroom, the couple made their grand entrance & immediately went into their first dance. i also thought is was especially sweet that leo had a first dance with his daughter, kendall, too. the music was provided by mark pardue of 815 events. not only was mark professional, he had a way of getting all ages out on the dance floor from 8 to 80! it was a fun party.
and i have to say it was such an honor being able to work with jaime gilliam again of graceful wedding management. at the time she was also venue manager at magnolia manor, however sadly the event space has since closed due to new ownership. the good news is that jaime is still in the wedding & events business and i can personally recommend her for planning and day-of coordinating.
as for leo and andrea - they were such a warm, friendly couple. i had a wonderful time and experience working with them. we have recently been back in touch - i was so tickled when they sent me a christmas card! the newlyweds now make their home in charlotte, along with kendall & the family cat, emma. it won't be long before they celebrate their one-year anniversary - where does the time go?!?
