kaitlin and mat were absolutely fabulous to work with! terry & i really enjoyed spending the evening with them and with their wonderful families. i'd met with kaitlin, her parents, sister, brother-in-law, & nephew earlier in the spring at the winery before their wedding & felt like they were all old friends. really good people.
kaitlin and mat chose to have a destination wedding in the charlottesville area. i've been seeing more and more couples doing this - it truly is a beautiful part of virginia! kaitlin and mat reside in west virginia, mat's family and his best man traveled all the way from the UK, and her family came from maryland. it was a very family oriented celebration - and everyone had so much fun!
we had such a wet spring and early summer and at the time of their ceremony, it was threatening to rain so they brought it inside. eventually the showers passed and we were able to photograph the wedding party outside after the ceremony. the light was lovely & the scenery at king family vineyards never disappoints. also another reason why i love this venue, as almost every time i photograph a wedding there, frank the cat shows up for photo ops {he was in the vineyard with us too, while photographing the newlyweds}.

kaitlin & her three attendants all wore grosgrain tom wedges. of course we had to get a picture or two of them wearing their comfy heels. they could do an ad for tom's :) mat and his best man had to get in on it to show off their fancy socks too! i loved the deep purple, bright green, & ivory they choose for their wedding colors - so cheerful! cheerful just like kaitlin and mat!
a few months after their wedding, i was grateful to work with kaitlin and mat again - they ordered (2) 4x4" mini leather KISS book albums from me and they surprised their parents at christmas with them. this is such a great idea if you are newlyweds and want to do something like this for your parents. the compact size is also great for a bride to carry in her purse! you can take it anywhere with you. and they are affordable!
