may is a busy month for weddings in the south east typically, and this year is no exception for us. caitlin and blair's wedding was the first of four this month and what a fantastic way to kick it off! lisa and i headed up to the blue ridge mountains of virginia for the weekend and as always we had an incredibly fun time.
though caitlin and blair reside in new york, blair grew up in nelson county, virginia which turned out to be the perfect setting for their wedding. they chose oak ridge estate, a gorgeous 1800's structure located in arrington between charlottesville and lynchburg for their festivities. the early evening ceremony was held in the formal italian gardens and the reception on the patio and lawn proceeding.
it's been several years since i've photographed a wedding at oak ridge and it was so good to be back. from the variety of gardens, views of the blue ridge, to the mansion itself. all so breathtaking and no shortage of places for photo ops. amy of blue ridge floral design blew me away with her flowers, as she always does. and the food. wow. need i say more? rock barn catering rocks! but wait there's more. i loved how caitlin, her mother, and aunt created a variety of cakes from family recipes. its one of their family traditions. the chocolate heart shaped cake, caitlin and blair chose to cut. its so touching when a couple makes their celebration so family oriented. caitlin's little sister was her maid of honor and blair chose his brother to be his best man.
most importantly, caitlin and blair were the sweetest couple and we just l-o-v-e-d working with them. so easy going and carefree, they both have a zest for life and so much love for one another. here's hoping they had a nice relaxing time along the banks of the chesapeake bay. what a peaceful place to spend a honeymoon :)
