winston-salem wedding photographer: mae+david 04.02.11

wedding season has kicked off and spring has arrived in north carolina at long last! though i've been fortunate enough to work alongside several talented photographers already this year, mae and david's wedding was officially my first of the season.

last saturday, april 2nd, my wonderful assistant lisa and i headed west to lewisville, north carolina for the late afternoon ceremony held at lewisville united methodist church. mae is such a lovely young woman, and she made for a gorgeous bride!   she is so pleasant to be around, as is david. i had so much fun with them not only at their wedding, but when i did their engagement session last fall.

mae's dress was simple, yet elegant. she wore an ivory strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline, lace appliques, and a lace scalloped hem.  she wore the cutest sparkly shoes too, the pom pom flowers came from esty. the bridesmaids wore navy dresses and the groomsmen, navy vests under their tuxes. i loved the navy, green, & white plaid ties the ushers received as gifts and wore to the wedding.  the ring carrier, emma, also wore a navy dress and carried the wedding rings wrapped around ribbon on a floral pomander. the two adorable flower girls wore complimentary green dresses.

the reception was held afterwards in nearby winston-salem at the hawthorne inn's sycamore ballroom, which could accommodate their 300 guests. the dj kept everything so organized and the party going all evening.  also, the couple added a photobooth at their reception, which the guests loved. even lisa and i popped in for a photo op!  and i mustn't forget the cake. it was quite impressive, considering it was the first wedding cake mae's neighbor ever made!  it was topped with mae's mother and father's cake topper from their wedding.  how sweet!

the couple's getaway car was also an eye-catcher...a cherry red vintage 1963 chevy impala.  some of my favorite photos of mae and david together were taken in the backseat of this car as they departed the church to head over to the reception. i'm not sure if it was a friend or family member's car or if they rented it, but i am sure i can find out if anyone is curious about having it for their own wedding.

such fun times and a great way to start off the wedding season. congratulations to the reverend and mrs hiatt, and welcome back from jamaica!
