stained glass canoe: band promo

friends, chris and andrea templon, have a great band called stained glass canoe, and i was honored when they asked me to do their promo photos. chris plays guitar and andrea sings some amazing vocals. she can really sing the blues AND she also plays the tambourine.  roger kohrs, who was once in the band unknown hinson, is their bass player {and sometimes plays the harmonica}. bruce mallatratt, is their drummer extraordinaire.

it was so enjoyable to drive out to chris and andrea's place in the country a few weeks ago on an unusually warm fall afternoon. i find working with musicians to be one of my favorites as a photographer. its really not "work" at all, so please don't tell anyone!

stained glass canoe has an 8 song album out, so be sure to contact them to see how you can get a copy. we went out to see them play live last weekend and what fun it was!  roger came up to me when we first arrived and said "i really love the photos, they are really colorful!" and colorful they were, as in the band members! in a few of the shots roger wore a vintage lime green leisure suit jacket, while the others went all out with brightly colored tie-dye outfits.  what a fun photo gig, without a doubt!

jamestown engagement photographer: alison+jeremy's e-session

after having to reschedule not one, but three times due to crazy weather, we finally had a gorgeous day two sundays ago for alison and jeremy's engagement session.  we met down by the water at city lake park in jamestown {north carolina} for some super sweet photo ops.  they are naturals around a camera and love to have fun with one other. they truly enjoyed themselves!

i've been lucky enough to have photographed alison & jeremy before, as they are in a band called serendipity jazz and i did their promo photos.  i've known jeremy for a while and met alison about a year ago. these two are a very talented pair, both amazing musicians {and they will play at your wedding, event, or house concert}.
and for all of you brides out there, alison also custom designs the most adorable wedding cake toppers and has an etsy site called bluegirl designs. you can also order some of her beautiful handmade jewelry on her etsy site as well.  {pictured below is their personalized topper she made for their cake}.

so the story goes, they met through mutual friends, formed a jazz band together, fell madly in love, and got engaged on christams eve.  now that's what i call serendipity! i was thrilled to hear their news and super excited when they asked me to be their photographer at their wedding, which is next month.  can not wait!

serendipity jazz

this summer i've had so many wonderful opportunities to enjoy some really great live music and serendipity was one of many of my favorites. i was invited to a house concert in greensboro where serendipity performed to an audience of about 30 in an intimate backyard setting. they were truly fantastic!

serendipity is made up of jeremy wood and alison perkins and the duo is often joined by their band, len grissett, james harris, and micah stillwell. i met jeremy several years ago at a wedding and alison earlier this spring, at a music festival. alison is a fabulous vocalist and jeremy plays guitar, mandolin, bass guitar, and is also a vocalist.

not only was the concert super fun, i thoroughly enjoyed photographing the band for their website/promotional. the image shown below is the one they selected for their website. you may see more of the photos i took that evening by going to their website here.

serendipity is available for private events including weddings, parties, house concerts, and often play at festivals and local venues such as sweet basils, the bistro at adams farm, and churchill's. you may check their schedule here .

musicians: doug+telisha williams

back in august, i met up with musicians, doug and telisha williams, in martinsville, virginia to do some promo photography for their newly released CD , Ghost of the Knoxville Girl. i really enjoyed hanging out with doug and telisha getting to know them better, while following them around with my camera. they are both super talented, fabulous musicians not to mention a ton of fun to be around. their style of music i would say is pure americana.

i originally met doug and telisha a few years ago at a "wine and song" event at my neighbor's grove winery and instantly fell in love with their music. i felt so honored when they asked me if i'd be interested in doing some photography for them. doug and telisha are currently on tour and if they come to your town, you MUST go see them. they often play coffee houses and have performed at well know venues such as the birchmere in northern virginia, the carolina theatre in greensboro, nc and at floydfest.

i can hardly wait to get a copy of their new tunes! and hopefully in the spring, i'll be hosting a house concert for them at my place in the countryside. oh what a treat that'll be!!

Bruce Piephoff's "Sogni D'oro"

Bruce Piephoff, a Greensboro, NC based folk & blues singer/songwriter has a newly released CD titled "Sogni D'Oro". I feel honored to have my photographs grace the cover and insert of this very fantastic CD! For those who have never heard of him before, he is really worth checking out. His website is www.brucepiephoff.com (also a link on my site) and he plays regular gigs in and around the Greensboro area as well as throughout North Carolina & beyond. Bruce had a CD release party this past Friday night at The Green Bean Coffeehouse in downtown Greensboro. The turnout was incredible with a full (coffee!)house and according to Bruce " there was a great mood and spirit of the evening." Of course I had to bring along a camera to capture such a wonderful evening. For those who would like to see the pics, please visit http://elizabethlarson.instaproofs.com.
