wedding+event venue: paul j ciener botanical gardens

earlier this month, i was honored to photograph the guild luncheon for the triad/triangle perfect wedding guide. the luncheons are a great way to meet other wedding vendors of all kinds and each month they are held at a different location.  the gorgeous paul j ciener botanical garden in kernersville, nc were the hosts for the april triad luncheon.   speakers were the pwg's intern, rebecca cadden, and hooman bahrani, of vesic photography. they spoke about the importance of utilizing pinterest as a wedding professional.

the garden opened to the public last spring in the historic district. not only is it a place to enjoy flora of all kinds, the facility can be rented for business luncheons, conferences, cocktail socials, and of course weddings. they offer a beautifully appointed ballroom with french doors opening up to the terrace with a view of the gardens, a full catering kitchen, bride's quarters with private bathroom, and an area for the groomsmen to prepare.  the gardens offer scenic areas for photos and the terrace is a nice place for a wedding ceremony or to dine under the stars.  if you haven't been by for a visit, you must!

jamestown, north carolina wedding: alison+jeremy 05.22.11

july? really? where does the time go?  so far it's been a fantastic season of weddings, engagement sessions, and more!  may and june went by in a blink of an eye with several road trips to virginia, maryland, DC, and of course all around north carolina! its been a busy, but super fun two months.

alison and jeremy's was the third out of four weddings in may which we covered. they tied the knot on the 22nd in a beautiful outdoor ceremony at castle mcculloch in the crystal gardens. i've really enjoyed getting to know these two as a couple in the past year. from photographing their band serendipity jazz for promo, to seeing them at music festivals + gigs throughout the area, and of course their engagement session earlier this spring.  we were so thrilled to have been part of their big day!

alison pretty much wins the all time most-talented DIY bride ever!  she purchased all of her flowers from the farmer's market and made the bouquets, boutineers, and arrangements at the reception, designed and made her own jewelry, made fabric flowers to accent her dress and hair as well as for some of the other gals in the wedding party, designed the guest book, invitations & programs {which doubled as paper fans and on the backs of each, a game of "mad libs" for the guests to participate in playing}.

in addition alison supplied the recipe to the caterers for the cupcakes,  designed and made the cake topper, AND sang at her own wedding reception!  jeremy also  joined in by playing a few songs together, along with their band serendipity. alison has an amazing voice, and i think their friends and family would agree with me here... I just LOVED it when she sang to her groom.... love is sweet!

such a super couple! xo
