chapel hill wedding: lyn+bob 09.18.10

from the moment lyn called me earlier this spring about photographing her wedding, i knew she was going to be such a pleasure to work with!  we have several things in common, one of them cycling and another enjoying the great outdoors and being around nature.

she told me how she and bob had met in high school and that they'd been childhood sweethearts throughout college.  sadly, they went their separate ways after graduation. 34 years later, bob reconnected with lyn on the very popular social networking site, facebook. bob was living in portland, oregon and lyn in cary, north carolina. nervously, they agreed to meet half way across the country and the romance blossomed.  fast forward a few months later... while together on a trip to central oregon, bob proposed to lyn on a mountaintop and the rest is history! what a remarkable love story. makes me smile big!

lyn and bob's wedding ceremony was held on a beautiful warm and sunny late summer afternoon in chapel hill with so much excitement in the air! i love how bob looked at lyn for the first time she when came up the aisle... wow!  both of them were glowing. it was a beautiful ceremony.

one of the things i loved about their ceremony was how the children were included. lyn had taught elementary education for  23 years at the st. thomas more school and many of her students from years past came to the ceremony and joined her coming up the aisle. it was probably the largest processional i've ever seen!  after the ceremony we did a big group shot of lyn and bob surrounded by all the children.  my experience shooting school/academic photography paid off!  what fun!

after the ceremony and all of the photographs were taken at the church, we headed off to durham to maggiano's for the dinner party reception.  a small intimate group of friends and family joined them for some fabulous wines and fine italian cuisine.  rather than the traditional wedding cake, lyn and bob offered new york style cheesecake and warm apple crostada for dessert.  delish!

bob and lyn are an amazing couple! the day after their wedding they moved lyn cross country to portland where they are spending their new life together.  we have been keeping in touch and she reports that portland is lovely, especially because bob is there. how sweet!
